American Literature will NOT meet next week, as most of you will be attending an Environmental Sciences field trip. We will meet again after Fall Break; that class will encompass Blocks 1 and 2. Your assignments are to read March, Volume 3 and create a mini-graphic novel of a minimum of 3-5 pages in length by Oct 18. Your project can be fictional, autobiographical or adapted from an existing story, e.g. Star Wars, Marvel/DC, etc. Please contact me with any questions. I would advise against waiting until the last minute to create this project. Note that you have no additional assignments to complete by Oct 18..
Some of the parents are attempting to arrange for a guest speaker or speakers to attend our class on Wednesday, Oct 18 to discuss the Civil Rights Movement then and now. It will be a wonderful opportunity to ask questions of those who participated in the movement and who are still involved in social justice today. You can show your appreciation to them by listening attentively and asking thoughtful questions.
